BCA (Hons) in Data Analytics: Four-years Full-time Program

Overview

4-year undergraduate program with a focus on providing an in-depth understanding of methodologies and techniques to deal with analysis of large amounts of data, and visualization of data towards decision making.

Program Highlights

Over and above the fundamental competencies a student of BCA will acquire, the program will focus on developing competencies specifically related to data analytics. These include capabilities in statistics, programming languages like Python and/or R, programming using SQL, statistical analytical system, business intelligence software, data visualization and analytical thinking.

Prof. Usha Subramanyam

Usha is an alumna of BITS, Pilani with two Master’s degrees, one in Computer Applications and another in Software Systems. She has a unique distinction of scoring A grades in all the courses of her two Master’s degree programs, and is a gold medallist. She is a passionate teacher of computer science, with rich experience in teaching at universities, corporate entities both in the in-person and online formats. She has over 29 years of teaching and training experience. Her strength lies in demystifying concepts and techniques to students at the undergraduate level, enabling them to apply what they learnt effectively and challenge learners at the postgraduate level to make them excel.

In her career spanning over 33 years, she has served as an educator in universities and in senior executive positions in the industry in the area of learning & development. She has taught in BITS, Pilani and in Myanmar Institute of Information Technology (MIIT), Mandalay, Myanmar. At  MIIT, apart from being a Professor, Usha served as CIO of MIIT Internal Systems. She has served as President of Learning Solutions is Ascendum Systems and as Senior Vice President, Learning & Development, HR Transformations and Campus Programs in MphasiS. Usha is very process-oriented with her biggest achievement in getting Mphasis certified PCCM (People Capability Maturity Model) Leve 5 certification, awarded by Software Engineering Institute, Carnegie Mellon University.

Prof. R. Saravanan

Saravanan has 12 years of teaching experience in computer science and one year industry experience. He is currently Assistant Professor, in the Department of Computer Applications at IFIM College (Autonomous). He has passed UGC NET exam in Computer Science and is pursuing his Ph.D in Periyar university. He has attended various workshops and conferences.  He has also published the articles in scopus, UGC ,Web of Science and peer-reviewed journals.

Prof. S. Lakshmi Saranya

Lakshmi Saranya S has 5 years of teaching experience in computer science. She is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Applications at IFIM College (Autonomous). She has attended various workshops, Faculty Development Programs and conferences.

Prof. Sinzy Silvester 

Mrs. Sinzy Silvester is an academician with over 15 years of Experience. She has taught both at the Graduate and Post-Graduate levels for courses affiliated to Bangalore University.

She is an organized and a dedicated professional with proven skills in teaching, guidance, and motivation with an ever-approachable nature. She holds a double masters in the areas of Computer Science Engineering and Computer Applications.

She specializes in her areas of interest namely Cryptography & Network Security, UNIX & SHELL Programming and Data Analytics. She is quite passionate and has an avid interest for research in the mentioned areas.

She has attended various workshops and conferences both at the National and International level. She has also presented and published papers in journals of high repute.
