LLB - Overview

B (Full time/ Three years/ Affiliated to KSLU and approved by BCI)

IFIM School of Law offers the three years LL. B Program. This course can be pursued after finishing any graduation degree (B.A., B.Sc., B.Ed.). This is a unique opportunity for most students to join a professional course. No other professional field allows for a transition into the filed after the under-graduation course is completed. 

With tailor-made online and off-line teaching mechanisms we ensure that our LL.B. students gain a deeper understanding of law. At IFIM, the emphasis is on providing our students with a holistic educational experience. Students go through not just classroom teaching, but also learn how the 3 Year LL.B. course is designed to nurture continuously employable and industry ready legal professionals. 

The target by the end of the 3 years course is to make a student ready to take up areas which fit into their skillset such as Judiciary, Corporate, Banking, Litigation, Academics so on and so forth.

Prof. (Dr.) Sunil George

He is a professional with around 25 years of rich and varied experience in Academics and Administration and is currently heading IFIM Law School, Bangalore. Prior to joining IFIM Law School, he was heading Amity Law School, Kolkata. He was associated with the corporate world for 14 years in the Administration and Legal departments and then went on to pursue his passion and has been associated with academia for the past 11 years and has extensive teaching and research experience. His areas of specialization include Business Law, Company Law, Criminal Law, and Human Rights.

He is also a guide for doctoral research work in Law. He is also a member of the Board of Studies for designing of law curriculum and a subject expert on the panel interview for the recruitment of faculty members at various law colleges. He has also been invited as a resource person to deliver Guest lectures and as a judge for various Debate and Moot Court competitions. He is also actively involved with initiatives for protecting the environment including rivers, water bodies, mangroves, and natural habitat in Charkop area of Mumbai. He was also the recipient of the ‘Best Faculty Award’ for outstanding contribution in Academics and contribution to the corporate life of NMIMS Kirit P Mehta School of Law for the academic year 2018-19.

Prof. Shagufta Anjum

Prof. Shagufta Anjum has completed her BA (Law), LLB from Bangalore Institute of Legal Studies, Bangalore followed by her LLM, Business Laws from University Law School, Bangalore. She has also pursued PG Program in Corporate Laws; PG Diploma in Cyber Laws from Asian School of Cyber Laws, Pune.

She has maintained a first-class percentage record all throughout. She is currently pursuing her PhD in Surrogacy from Alliance University, Bangalore. She has 13 years of experience in teaching and has taught a wide variety of subjects from the branches of Business Laws, Human Rights Law, Cyber Laws, Constitutional & Administrative Law, Law of Contracts, Interpretation of Statutes, Practical Clinical Courses, Research Methodology, Environmental Laws, and Right to Information. Etc.

She has been honoured with “Best Presentation Award” at the National Conference on Emerging Trends in Legal Field organized by JSS (Autonomous) Law University, Mysuru in April 2016.

She has also been honoured with “Certificate of Excellence” for her excellent contribution in the field of Legal Education by Women Entrepreneurs Foundation (www.shineworld.in), New Delhi on 28th September 2018.

She is currently heading the Law School as Principal (Acting), Faculty Co-ordinator of Centre of Excellence for Women, Child and the Law (CEWCL), Corporate Affairs Outreach and Placement Committee (CAOPC) and Legal -Aid Cell.

She has several publications to her credit and has attended and presented papers in National and International level seminars and conferences. Apart from her academic achievements, she has been invited to teach aspiring judicial officers on Mohammedan Law subject and invited as Chief Guest on Republic Day celebration.

Prof. (Dr.) Asha Soman

Dr. Asha P Soman is a member of the Study Group 5.20 of the IAA Commission 5 on Space
Policy, Law and Economy, International Academy of Astronautics (IAA), France. She has more
than a decade of experience in academia and industry. She obtained a Ph.D. in Air and Space
Law from the National Law School of India University, Bangalore, India on the topic Evolving
International Humanitarian Legal Regime for Sustainable Use of Outer Space and its
Application to India. She was the University topper and gold medalist for LLM (Commercial
Law and Human Rights) from the Cochin University of Science and Technology, Kerala; and
completed BA LLB (Hons) from Mahatma Gandhi University, Kerala, India.
She has supervised Doctoral thesis, LLM and LLB dissertations and taught PG and UG classes.
She worked with top law schools in India including Symbiosis Law School, Pune and Christ
University, Bangalore. She also worked as an Advocate and Assistant Director – Knowledge
Management at IndusLaw, Bangalore.
She cleared UGC NET in 2013 and was a part of the UGC Sponsored Major Research Project
with the NLSIU, Bangalore. She has initiated the Air and Space Law Committee at her previous
institution. She also has international and national publications of book chapters, articles in
journals, a handbook, and Scopus/Web of Science indexing. She has presented papers at
numerous international and national conferences and has done certification courses in various
fields.
Dr. Asha has framed the syllabus for Aviation Law and Technology Law and also revised
syllabuses in her previous institutions. Subjects she taught include Jurisprudence,
Environmental Law, Public International Law, Company Law, Property Law, Criminal Law,
Space Law, Aviation Law, Research Methodology, Nuclear Law, Interpretation of Statutes,
Competition Law, Investment Laws, Consumer Protection and Motor Vehicles Act, Insurance
Law, Service Laws, Law of Torts, Case Studies – Hyperlinking and Interlinking, Philosophy of
Life and Lifestyle, Law and Economics, and Law and Political Society. She has revised syllabi
for several subjects and drafted syllabi for Aviation Law and Technology Law in her previous
institutions. Her research interests are Air and Space Law, Technology Law, Jurisprudence,
Environmental Law, and Law and society

Prof. Apoorvi Shrivastava

She is an ADR Enthusiast, Accredited Associate Arbitrator of Chartered Institute of Arbitration (CIArb, UK) and member of Young International Arbitration Group of The London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA) and Mumbai Centre of International Arbitration (MCIA)

Being a certified arbitrator and mediator; she is empanelled with SAMA & Settlement Table and deals with the commercial matters.
She also has a teaching experience of more than 8 years and has taught in the premier institutes like Hidayatullah National Law University and NALSAR University of Law. She runs a Centre of Alternative Dispute Resolution at IFIM Law School and is an avid supporter of green arbitration.

She conducts various mediation and negotiation trainings for researchers, students, corporates to equip them to resolve disputes and crack deals in amicable manner. Her research interest includes corporate sustainability, international commercial arbitration and role of public policy in the societal norms.
